What are Hamlets feelings on pages 74 and 75 Essay Example for Free

What are Hamlets sentiments on pages 74 and 75 Essay Page 74 is the first run through Hamlet is acquainted with the crowd and this first discourse of his is significant as it establishes the pace of the play and permits the crowd to acclimate to the sort of classification it can't avoid being, it additionally shows how urgent Hamlet is and how upset he really is. It recounts to the plot of the story to the crowd and shows why Hamlet is so despondent at his mom and uncle being hitched, and the time where they did as such. We quickly start to perceive how alone and befuddled Hamlet on what to do Hamlet truly is, to such an extent just about 33% of the discourse is fundamentally him mulling over self destruction, which is carefully against his religion. The principle columns throughout his life, the individuals he could hand-off on the most have deceived him and he is uncertain who he can trust and he is conflicted between getting revenge predominantly on his mom for shaming his dads memory by wedding his uncle (clearly he doesn't yet have the foggiest idea who executed his dad or how he kicked the bucket) or to stay consistent with his mom, and accept punishment silently as his religion instruct him to. He imagines that his mom and uncle have been excessively rushed in getting hitched, But two months dead, nay, less, not two and he has doubts that they had something to do with his dads passing. He appears to be harsh towards his mom specifically and alludes to her like a parasite. Why, she would hold tight him, as though increment of craving had developed by what it benefited from and his underlying response, before he is visited by his dads apparition, is to render retribution on his mom. Which shows how he is feeling as he expects his mom ought to be the fundamental help to him in his season of grieving yet rather she has surrendered him, this additionally shows how enthusiastic week Hamlet is from his first sentence. He discusses the sexual connection between his mom and uncle, O, most mischievous speed, to present with such mastery on depraved sheets! It isn't, nor it can't come to great. This could be Hamlets method of flooding vitality and guts that will empower him also get revenge on his dads demise and his moms shame towards his dads memory. This additionally gives the feeling that Hamlet is very week sincerely and needs assistance or direction, something that he doesn't get from any of his companions or family, a significant number of who endeavor to execute him and I think the reality he regularly attempts to legitimize his shortcoming. For instance he says the main explanation he doesn't end it all is on the grounds that it is a wrongdoing, likewise when he goes to kill his uncle he doesn't on the grounds that he is imploring at that point and this would prompt him being sent directly to paradise rather than to damnation where he has a place. I think Hamlet is appeared as being desolate and not very sure who to confide in appears in the last line of his discourse, But break my heard, for I should hold my tongue, this shows he needs to take care of his issues without anyone else. Again representing his seclusion from the individuals around him and his total absence of trust in anybody and the reality the discourse is said to the crowd likewise shows that he is totally alone on the planet and doesn't have the foggiest idea where to go to. Hamlet clearly had extraordinary regard for his dad and notwithstanding saying that he is definitely not an incredible warrior Married with my uncle, yet not any more like my dad than I to Hercules his dad was and you start to see that Hamlets fundamental impact in his life, the one individual he appreciated the most was his dad and now he has gone, Hamlet feels extremely lost and uncertain without him and appears to rebuff himself and constantly put himself down all through the discourse making an exceptionally upset first scene, yet incidentally he stays one of only a handful barely any Shakespearean characters which have a comical inclination and as the play advances we start to perceive how wily and snide villa can be, particularly when conversing with Polonius.

The pass to Kansas was around 800 to on e thousand dollars, school was opening in under three weeks, and we didn't have a dollar for my ticket or living expenses. My mother and I had asked relatives, companions, and privately owned businesses. It has been three weeks and we just had gotten 500 dollars. Everything I could do is cry acknowledging I can’t go. As my mother saw my agony and dissatisfaction, she held me and said â€Å"God knows best and everything occurs on his time, not our own. That Friday morning I was shooting on the ball court attempting to clear my head. This fellow saw me and asked me for what valid reason I was not in school I informed him regarding my circumstance. The man pulled out his wallet and gave me his card and advised me to stop by his office that evening. Soon thereafter I went to his office and he gave me a check for one thousand d ollars. He stated, â€Å"always try sincerely and follow your fantasies and you will consistently have support,† I got up and said thanks to him for allowing me a chance to seek after my fantasies, having faith in me, and how I will everlastingly be appreciative for his kindness.Once I left the workplace, I ran as far as possible home with removes in my eyes and from breath to show my mother the check. She dropped to her knees and stated, â€Å"Thank you Lord I realize you would make it come through for my child. † That weekend I spent gathering my packs to leave on Tuesday morning. My mom plunked down with me and disclosed to me that she wasn’t going to take this excursion with me, she was startle since I was just fifteen, and I have never been anyplace out of the nation without her. The idea of now heading off to an odd state where I don't know anyone. She thought again about me going. I said to her it can't be that difficult to do this and I am canvassed in th e blood of Jesus. At the point when Tuesday came it was that opportunity to bid farewell, my mom began crying I held her and revealed to her it will be alright despite the fact that I was frightened at this point I needed to grasp it additionally attempting to keep down the tears. All things considered a few things may appear to be incomprehensible for you; as long as you stay with it, you will be effective. Test Essay: Dissecting the job of Ancient Architecture Cultures in Driving Architectural Growth The history or engineering through the ages has been packed with the social convictions of the individuals who made the structures that characterized past times. In my paper, I mean to investigate the job of culture as a deciding component in propelling the field of design as we probably am aware it. To viably examine culture and antiquated design development, I trust it is critical to initially comprehend the significance of culture and what makes up the social texture of a general public. Culture is characterized as the thoughts, customs, strict convictions and social standards of conduct of a general public. As man developed from being a single animal to living in networks, social qualities gradually got set up and were spoken to by fine arts on cavern dividers. With time, around 10,000 BC, the Stone Age saw the first run through man made engineering structures to fill in as lodging for the nuclear family. Similarly as with the works of art that characterized the Stone Age, 10,000 BC engineering was additionally motivated by the way of life of its kin. Along these lines, engineering in the Neolithic period comprised of stone works organized in roundabout structure to oblige both ancient man and the trained creatures they saved for taking care of. Here, the cultivating and assembling society pervasive in the Neolithic age prompted parceling the home into rooms and areas for the keeping of both plant and creature life. The requirement for steady outings to water grounds and to assemble food likewise assumed a job in propelling the production of street ways for simple development. The social effect on design likewise proceeded after the ancient period as can be found in the compositional structures known as Mesopotamia engineering. In antiquated Egypt, the faith in various divine beings and their immediate effect on each circle of human life prompted the need to make expand homes for these divine beings on earth. In this way religion assumed a tremendous job in engineering development as huge landmarks, for example, the Sphinx sculptures tributes to the god Ra-were keenly worked with the utilization of stone, mortar just as cutting edge pulley frameworks which were wonders about that time. European engineering isn't likewise deprived of social impacts. In old Rome, enormous sanctuaries were additionally worked to suit the numerous divine beings that impacted the roman culture. Be that as it may, the planners in old Rome made advancement a stride further by building metro structures, for example, the amphitheater, triumphant curve, showers and gladiatorial grounds to provide food for the amusement, learning and unwinding needs of people. While in medieval Europe, a culture of warring, addition and outer hostility prompted the structure of design wonders devoted to the specialty of protecting and assaulting the adversary. With the approach of Christianity and the Christian lifestyle, the compositional scene of Europe changed to oblige the structure of huge houses of prayer utilizing old roman examples just as the Italian renaissance procedures which incorporated point of view in engineering pieces to move the individuals. Islamic design likewise took motivation from the engineering of old Iran as can be seen from the repetitive utilization of enormous arches and towers in the structure of mosques. At long last, African design in the frontier time is an extraordinary sign of the impacts of culture in engineering. This is on the grounds that it coordinated African, European, Christian, Arabic and Islamic societies in the building magnum opuses that can be seen over the landmass. References: Fletcher, B. There has always been this rule within the United States to increase the country’s profit and attempt to retain more revenue and stability within the borders as well. Homelessness in America A homeless person is simply defined as a person who does not have an adequate residence. Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated with the homeless. I would see them sleeping on the streets when my mom drove me to church on Sunday mornings and I remember asking my mom a lot of questions about the homeless. They intrigued me. I couldn’t fathom why people were living on the side of the road or under bridges and did not have a home to live in. I always wanted to help in whatever way I could because I felt sorry for them. My mom and I had many talks about homeless people. According to the website www.hudexchange.info, â€Å"On a single night in January 2013, 610,042 people were homeless in the United States.† However, this number may not represent all of the homeless because many cannot be accounted for. If they have no ID and do not stay in a shelter they are omitted from the statistics. Interestingly, half of the country’s homeless population lives in Texas, California, Massachusetts and New York. (thinkprogress.org). So, why are there so many homeless people in America? The major factors contributing to the homeless in America are; mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence and the lack of affordable housing. Early Childhood Education free essay sample

When discussing early childhood education, one often means children that are under eight years old. These first years of life are among the most important ones for the general development of a human as this period is the foundation of basic cognitive and learning characteristics and abilities that remain with an individual during all his or her life. My personal statement on early childhood education is based on the understanding that the earliest years of the human development are most important for him or her; each child is an individual and needs a personal approach; at the same time, all children should be treated equally with love.Early childhood education involves such establishments as pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, preschool, nursery school, daycare, and others. All of them have a similar purpose of developing children and preparing them for their smooth transition to the school. In the first two years, a child develops a sense of the self, and by the end of this period, most toddlers are eager to differentiate themselves from other people. We will write a custom essay sample on Early Childhood Education or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When a child becomes about three years old, the learning abilities of his or her brain become extremely high, and the brain has the potential to perceive new knowledge actively. Correspondingly, a child has to use all his or her senses, and the main strategy in learning here is playing. Thus, the purpose of early education is to improve the primary cognitive, motor, and language skills that are essential in further human development.I also consider that it is important that a child is taught how to interpret things and develop critical thinking. It is crucial to understand that a child does not have own understanding of the surrounding world; he or she does not have such concepts as morality or religion, and the childs brain is like a sponge that absorbs everything it experiences. Thus, the purpose of an educator is to provide the child with the most important things for his or her further development. So, the most necessary experience that a child needs is love, attentiveness, and care of the parents and the educator. In this way, parents need to take the active role in early childhood education. I would communicate closely with childrens parents to give them the main concepts of the general child development and the developmental peculiarities of their child. Also, it would be beneficial to provide parents with specific tools, activities, games, behavior, which they can apply at home with their kids.Considering the fact that children learn through copying, the role of the first educators, parents, and tutors, is to control their behavior and always remain patient, loving, positive, and well-tempered. It is a necessary approach as the young brain perceives and stores in the subconsciousness even the simple actions or words that a child does not comprehend; however, the results of the perceived information can be manifested further in the adult life.In addition, early childhood ed ucation has a role in the creation of a diverse and accepting environment. I consider that the educator should be extremely supportive and give similar educating programs to children no matter of their home background. Of course, there are special programs for children of a certain socioeconomic, religious, or ethnic group, and it is the decision of the parents where and how to educate their children. However, I consider that early education of children should occur on the equal concepts and should teach them to be respectful, tolerant, and accepting of the diversities. In this way, early childhood education is the basis of healthy human development; it gives the first knowledge and experience of the self and the surrounding world. Thus, in my opinion, the greatest roles here are played by childs first educators, namely parents and teachers in early childhood education establishments. The main issue that the educators should remember is that children learn fast and absorb everything they experience, so the crucial moment is to support the child in developin g cognitive, learning, and motor skills in the loving, caring, and accepting environment.

Marketing Communications Stakeholders †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Marketing Communications Stakeholders? Answer: Introduction The advertisement is one of the vital core areas of any business promotion as it delivers the messages reading the product to the public domain (Tham et al. 2017). However, online advertisement or digital advertisement is a most important and popular media in the recent years that have been using rapidly by the business industry to promote their products. This study deals with the digital advertisement in context of McDonald's. However, in Australia the digital advertisement is popular and McDonald's uses this media to promote their products in Australia. As per the research, the Australian people are attached with the social media thus digital advertisement through the online will attract the people to the product of such organization. Examination of the piece of advertisement McDonalds is associated with the digital advertisement through online. However, their main target customers are the young generation and the family in Australia. According to Hurwitz et al. (2017), the digital advertisement is a common way in the recent year that has been done through the use of internet and social media. However, McDonald's' has increased its budget tripled for the digital media in order to increase their sales. Application of digital advertisement makes them more connected brand in Australia. The family and the young generation of the Australia is the target market of McDonalds for their digital advertisement. As commented by HINTZ et al. (2017), application of social media is very common in the young generation. Thus digital advertisement through the social media increase the product promotion of the organization and its also motivate the family members in Australia. McDonald's adopted mobile campaign based on the location of Australia. Through this digital advertisement, McDonald's their late night opening hours that influence the young generation as well as the families in the Australia those are addicted to McDonalds food. It can be said that in Australia digital advertisement is a popular way that has been used by many organizations to enhance their brand image (Watson et al. 2017). You tube campaign is one of the important ways that is used by the McDonald's to ensure their customers about the information of their product in Australia as well as other countries. Through the You Tube application, McDonald's tries o identify that their customers are well informed about their product. For this reason, they provide questionnaire and take the answer from the public. Macca's app is established by McDonald's in order to address the issues regarding food provenance. DDB group in Sydney is associated with such digital campaign to understand the issues of the Australian customers regarding the food product of McDonald's. According to Krijestorac et al. (2017), extensive coverage is a big advantage of digital advertisement through the internet. This makes a unified connection throughout the world that attaches the consumers from different geographical regions with a brand. Over the internet, a wide range of product related information can be put without the geographical and time constraints. McDonald's possesses large information in the customer domain through the digital advertisement. Digital advertisement through the online is a cost effective way and advertisement via social media is a big initiative for the McDonald's to gain the attention of the young generation in Australia. Facebook and Twitter are used by the McDonalds for their digital advertisement in Australia as well as in the global world. According to Hofstetter et al. (2017), online advertisement increases the interest of the candidates for a particular product or brand. Virtual reality and the use of modern technology in the online advertisement increase the effectiveness of the online advertisement. However, digital advertisement through the Facebook and Twitter is applied by the McDonalds in Australia to gain the concentration of the young generation and the families as these social media are rapidly used by the young generation. There are two aspects of the online advertisement one consists the advertising for the target market that is called corporate advertisement. In the context of McDonald's, they use the digital advertisement via online for their target market in order to lead the information of their service or product to their Australian target market. McDonald's focuses on the needs of the Australian family thus they develop Macca's app for this particular target market. As argued by Dixon et al. (2017), digital advertisement via online has both negative and positive aspects. It is well known to all that TV, magazine and newspaper advertisement are associated with the compulsive medium, however, the online advertising is associated with the on-demand advertising process. Advertisement through the newspaper does not need any complete view by the people that save time in comparison to the online advertisement. Digital advertisement via online requires identifying the right target market (Mathur, 2017). However, in the context of McDonald's it often happens that consumer overlooks the advertisement while using social media and become less interested to see the advertisement. Hence, selection of the younger generation as a target market for the digital advertisement is a vital approach for McDonald's to promote their business in Australia. Maccas application is very popular in Australia that is established by the McDonalds as this mobile application will promote their business in the domain of younger customers as well as for their family members. According to Hofstetter et al. (2017), internet advertising is information marketing rather than the impression inducement. Hence, digital advertisement needs more presentation and developed the skill to attract the customers via the online advertisement. One of the biggest challenges of the online advertising is it often misleads the information and influence the consumers negatively towards an organization (Dixon et al. (2017). Personnel requirement of the online marketing is higher than other media (Mathur, 2017). Apart from these issues for the McDonald's digital advertisement via online is a unique approach to attract the young generation and the families in the Australia as it will improve their brand image and increase the brand awareness among their target customers. Conclusion This entire study gives a brief idea over the application of digital advertisement process via online in the context of McDonald's. However, this online advertisement is based on the nature of the Australian target market. For the McDonald's the target market is younger generation as well as their family members. However, development of Macca's app is based on the demand of such target market as it enables this organization to understand their customer's issues regarding their products. What We Should Be Doing to Save Our Planet free essay sample

Fortunately many of us are concerned about the future of our planet and unless we can find a way of solving the problems the environment will suffer. I know this all sounds so impossible but we can’t get overwhelmed. Every one of us can do something to help slow down and reverse some of the damage we have all caused. We can’t leave the responsibility of saving our planet entirely to the experts; we all have a responsibility to our environment. As populations expand and lifestyles change we have to keep the world in a condition so that future generations will have the same natural resources that we have today. Here I am going to list just a few examples of the threats to our environment as well as some ideas to help you do something about them. Waste: We all know about pollution. How its bad and we need to do something about it. We will write a custom essay sample on What We Should Be Doing to Save Our Planet or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Let me ask you something. Do we really know about pollution? How it affects the ecosystem? Think about this. If you dropped a piece of rubbish on the ground because there wasnt a nearby rubbish bin, it wouldnt be that bad. But if every person in New Zealand did that, trash would be everywhere! What about everyone in America, or in the world? That material goes to landfills or could end up in the ocean. It pollutes the oceans while killing sea life. If an aquatic animal or fish swallowed plastic it would kill or majorly harm them. Not only that, but when plastic stays in the water, it breaks down into microscopic pieces and stays there for hundreds of years.

Introduction of British Airways Essay Example

Introduction of British Airways Essay Example Introduction of British Airways Essay Introduction of British Airways Essay British Airways has become the worlds second largest airline carrying more than 28 million passengers from one country to another. Main aim of British Airways is to provide outstanding service to its customers at an affordable price. Despite tough competition from other airlines such as Virgin Atlantic Airways, United Airlines and other European airlines, British Airways still holds the major market share. BA maximise on their work force by ensuring they employ the highest skilled staff for the particular job, some times they will only employ staff who are well educated. British Airways are currently struggling with staff shortages as the level of absenteeism for the companys employees are high above the average and acceptable figures for the industry. Employees are said to be unmotivated and morale is low as increase in pay is low and the restructuring of the company have led to 13000 job losses. Gate Gourmet is a world leading airline catering company. Gate Gourmet provides its service around the globe. They produce: 624000 meals per day or 228 million meals per year on average. I will use a couple of headings, which were given on the task sheet, to describe the features of employer and employee relations in this British airways selected case. Manger In flight caters Establishing employee relations Contracts of employment Gate gourmet employees are usually on a temporary or a part-time contract. Temporary contract workers are entitled to 15 days holiday including bank holidays and Boxing Day, each year from their employer. Paying more than the law at British airways it builds up loyalty. Gate Gourmet workers are paid over the minimum wage. Most gate gourmet employees work for the BA in flight caters. A BA Part-time worker has generally a lower absence than full-time workers, and is less likely to be members of the union, and is very good for the employer. Breaks are given to in flight caters at British airways. Example on an airplane they would stop at an airport half way, if the flight is not a one way flight. Payment by result payment according to performance: a system of payment in which the salary paid depends on how well a BA employee does a job. Bonus earnings depend on measured qualities or values of output for individuals or groups of BA employees, usually based on work studied time units; this covers a wide range of bonus schemes which still form the main method of performance pay for BA in flight workers. Contribution that employees make to British airways is a key issue for the employer. BA has devised pay methods that link individual or team performance to a pay system that rewards this. Alternatively, pay has been used to recognise such factors as individual development, responsibility, risk-taking and loyalty or experience. To get reward BA workers need to have the knowledge skills and attitude that a person needs to carry out his or her job effectively. When used in a pay system, they provide a basis for individual assessment to reward individuals who can positively contribute to the overall values and objectives of BA. BA workers are also related to their performance pay schemes, which cover a wide variety of methods of linking pay to a measure of individual or a group of in flight caters. They all share the idea that where a worker can vary output according to effort and this can be clearly related to earnings, the prospect of increased pay will lead to greater performance.

Famous Japanese Fish Proverbs

Famous Japanese Fish Proverbs Japan is an island nation, therefore seafood has been essential to the Japanese diet since ancient times. Although meat and dairy products are as common as fish today, fish is still the main source of protein for the Japanese. Fish can be prepared grilled, boiled, and steamed, or eaten raw as sashimi (thin slices of raw fish) and sushi. There are quite a few expressions and proverbs including fish in Japanese. I wonder if this is because fish are so closely related to Japanese culture. Tai (Sea bream) Since tai rhymes with the word medetai (auspicious), it is regarded as a good luck fish in Japan. Also, the Japanese consider red (aka) as an auspicious color, therefore it is often served at weddings and other happy occasions as well as another auspicious dish, sekihan (red rice). On festive occasions, the preferred method for cooking tai is to boil it and serve it whole (okashira-tsuki). It is said that eating tai in its full and perfect shape is to be blessed with good fortune. The eyes of tai are especially rich in vitamin B1. Tai is also considered as the king of fish because of their beautiful shape and color. Tai is only available in Japan, and the fish that most people associate with tai is porgy or red snapper. Porgy is closely related to sea bream, while red snapper is only similar in taste. Kusatte mo tai (è… Ã£ £Ã£ ¦Ã£â€šâ€šÃ© ¯â€º, Even a rotten tai is worthwhile) is a saying to indicate that a great person retains some of their worth no matter how his/her status or situation changes. This expression shows the high regard the Japanese have for tai. Ebi de tai o tsuru (æ µ ·Ã¨â‚¬ Ã£ §Ã© ¯â€ºÃ£â€šâ€™Ã©â€¡ £Ã£â€šâ€¹, Catch a sea bream with a shrimp) means, To get a big profit for a small effort or price. It is sometimes abbreviated as Ebi-tai. It is similar to the English expressions To throw a sprat to catch a mackerel or To give a pea for a bean. Unagi (Eel) Unagi is a delicacy in Japan. A traditional eel dish is called kabayaki (grilled eel) and is usually served over a bed of rice. People often sprinkle sansho (a powdered aromatic Japanese pepper) over it. Although eel is rather costly, it has been very popular and people enjoy eating it very much. In the traditional lunar calendar, the 18 days before the beginning of each season is called doyo. The first day of doyo in midsummer and midwinter is called ushi no hi. It is the day of the ox, as in the 12 signs of the Japanese zodiac. In the old days, the zodiac cycle was also used to tell time and directions. It is customary to eat eel on the day of the ox in summer (doyo no ushi no hi, sometime in late July). This is because eel is nutritious and rich in vitamin A, and provides strength and vitality to fight against the extremely hot and humid summer of Japan. Unagi no nedoko (é ° »Ã£ ®Ã¥ ¯ Ã¥ ºÅ , an eels bed) indicates a long, narrow house or place. Neko no hitai (çÅ' «Ã£ ®Ã© ¡ , a cats forehead) is another expression that describes a tiny space. Unaginobori é ° »Ã§â„¢ »Ã£â€šÅ  means, something that rises rapidly or skyrockets. This expression came from the image of an eel that rises straight up in the water. Koi (Carp) Koi is a symbol of the strength, courage, and patience. According to Chinese legend, a carp which courageously climbed up waterfalls was turned into a dragon. Koi no takinobori (é ¯â€°Ã£ ®Ã¦ » Ã§â„¢ »Ã£â€šÅ , Kois waterfall climbing) means, to succeed vigorously in life. On Childrens Day (May 5th), families with boys fly koinobori (carp streamers) outside and wish for boys to grow strong and brave like carp. Manaita no ue no koi (㠁 ¾Ã£ ªÃ¦ ¿Ã£ ®Ã¤ ¸Å Ã£ ®Ã© ¯â€°, A carp on the cutting board) refers to the situation that is doomed, or to be left to ones fate. Saba (Mackerel) Saba o yomu é ¯â€"ã‚’è ª Ã£â€šâ‚¬ literally means, to read the mackerel. Since mackerel are a common fish of relatively low value, and also rot quickly when fishermen offer them for sale they often inflate their estimate of the number of fish. This is why this expression has come to mean, to manipulate the figures to ones advantage or to offer false numbers intentionally.

Portfolio Project Part 6 Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Portfolio Project Part 6 - Assignment Example In order to measure the performance of an accountant, it is significant to use the critical incident and BARS methods. A combination of these methods would sufficiently measure the performance of an accountant in the company. A performance management should be able to give employees unbiased, constructive feedback on their performance. In order to ensure success of performance management of an accountant, reviews and measurement of the worker are normally done annually. Measure of improved performance The following combined methods will be used to measure the performance of an accountant i. Critical Incidents ii. Work Standards iii. Straight or Simple Ranking iv. Paired Comparisons v. Rater distribution Using the straight or simple ranking, the accountant will ranked according to overall performance. He or she will be compared with other employees. In addition, all comparison will be based on single criterion, such as overall performance. This is effective because it Compares perform ance of each employee with every other employee in the group. Using the forced distribution method, I will be able to understand how the accountant has performed. This is because the rater assigns individual in work group to a limited number of categories similar to a normal distribution. Further, it assumes all groups of employees have the same distribution (Mondy & Mondy 2010). In rating work quantity of the accountant, i will give careful consideration things such as effect of employee on the general flow of work, amount of work produced in terms of the specific job especially annually, employee’s application to the job, and skill in handling specific assignments of the company. I will award the score as follows: poor, 1 to 6 points; average, 7 to 18 points; good, 19 to 25 points. In turn, I will be able to understand if the accountant has improved performance or not (Smith & Mazin, 2004). BARS and performance evaluation The Critical Incident Method is a form of performanc e appraisal method that requires an individual to keep records and all relevant information of both good and bad employee work behaviors. In case a critical incident influences the company’s ability to operate either negatively or positively, the manager records the information. The BARS method is very effective in portfolio management of workers since it is easy to monitor the actions or behaviors of the worker while at work (Mondy & Mondy, 2010). For instance, when an employee misuse the company resources for personal use, it is easy to report the case to the manager. When it comes to accounting, this method is applicable in the sense that when an accountant makes valuations and evaluation of the company’s expenses and profits for a week, month, or a year, it is easy to monitor the trend of their actions. If the accountant kept the records in a timely way, the management can easily detect problems in their financial system and come up with ways to improve its financi al control systems. The BARS especially the critical incident method can also be applied as a means of job analysis in the sense that it helps analysts to determine actions that are focused on work and other work activities. It helps in making an entire analysis of work and permit transparent performance leading actions to be targeted (Smith & Mazin, 2004). In evaluating performance of a worker, it is vital to have job description and specification. This is because Job descriptions offer precise and a concise

Power and Politics in Organizational Development Essay

Power and Politics in Organizational Development - Essay Example The concepts of power and politics are two areas of organizations that can be very difficult to define and understand. However, in order to be successful in organizational life and development these areas must be explored. In the past Organizational Development has been criticized for not taking these factors (French & Bell, 1999, pg. 282). French & Bell (1999) explain that the understanding of Power and Politics is still in very early stages in OD. However with recent research we still continue to derive theories and applications for the OD field. Organization development is influenced by and depends upon politics and power, culture and effective performance of the management team. Organization development is complex process which relies on high moral values that transcend both the organization and the individual. The shared values that underlie a high-performing organization's strategy and bring meaning to the individual employee's work are reflected in both the decision-making and the goal-setting processes. Power is the potential to influence behavior, "to change the course of events, to overcome resistance, and to get people to do things that they would not otherwise do (Pfeffer, 1994, pg. 30). In short, it is a way to get things done; not the only way, but at least a major way, and one that is often used in organizational life. ... 283). Managers use power to accomplish goals all the time. The use of power is sometimes called "organizational politics" as managers use power and influence to produce results. Because of its association with politics, power is many times looked upon with disdain, as a dirty word. At the same time, we admire managers for what they achieve, and while we may not like it, we acknowledge that the ability to willingly wield power is often a prerequisite to managerial success. Following David McClelland, "positive faced of power is characterized by a socialized need to initiate influence and lead" (French and Bell 1999, pg. 282). Power is used frequently when the necessity to accomplish goals requires us to rely on those on whom we depend. It is especially important when they have a different point of view and cannot otherwise be relied on to do what we want them to do (Pfeffer, 1994, pg. 39). The greater the degree of difference in point of view, the greater the resistance and conflict and the more important it is to use power, influence, and organizational politics as a way to get things done. If everyone has the same goal and is in agreement about how to achieve it, there is no need to use power. Studies have shown that the more agreement there was on the goal and the means to attain it, the less political activity occurred (Pfeffer, 1994, pg. 39). There is no need to engage in politics or exercise power when there are no differences in perspective or w hen no conflict exits. The time and energy can, in these situations, be more productively employed toward goal accomplishment. To the extent that organizations can agree on goals and on the means to attain them, organizational politics can be reduced. In the absence of this

Comparing Plato’s Symposium and David Hume’s An Enquiry Concerning Huma

Comparing Plato’s Symposium and David Hume’s An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding Philosophy, when broken down into the original Greek, is philos, which means love, and logos, which means word. Thus philosophy is the love of words or linguistics. There is not one way of viewing this love of words. Both Plato and David Hume examine philosophy in their texts, Symposium and An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, respectively. I will outline, then compare, these two philosophers’ views of philosophy to show that philosophy is a balance. Plato’s Symposium is a dialogue of speeches given by different orators on the topic of love. These discourses allow several views of philosophy to be expressed. These philosophical views relate and compliment the speaker’s view of love. Pausanias introduces two kinds of love: heavenly and common. In contrast to Eryximachus’ speech where â€Å"the love manifested in health (heavenly) is fundamentally different from the love manifested in disease (common/vulgar)† (Plato: 186B). Pausanias holds that â€Å"love is, like everything else, complex: considered simply in itself, it is neither honorable nor a disgrace – its character depends entirely on the behavior it gives rise to† (Plato: 183D). Pausanias views love as good and bad by what it brings. He sees that love with women and with little boys is of the vulgar kind, but love between older men, however, can have a powerful force in the community and therefore be honorable and heavenly. T herefore, in Pausanias’ eyes, love can be a valuable force within the community if implemented correctly. â€Å"Love’s value to the city as a whole and to the citizens is immeasurable, for he compels the lover and his loved one alike to make virtue their cen... ...nsion is located in the soul; the philosophical study of love allows those aspects of the soul to be released, which in turn ties together all the perspectives of philosophy aired in the Symposium with this concept of balance. This balance of philosophy is not going to teach you anything you do not already know, rather it allows you to release what is in your soul. Hume stipulates that not only must there be a balance between the active and reasonable sides of humans, but also a balance of human understanding against abstruse and confused issues. Therefore, from the examination of Plato and Hume, there exists a common theme: philosophy is a balance. Works Cited Hume, David. An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding. 2nd edition. If you think and do in the right way it is good for you and anybody, but on the other hand it is good for you only and then it can destroy someone.

Mass Defect Definition in Physics and Chemistry

In physics and chemistry, a mass defect refers to the difference in mass between  an atom and the sum of the masses of the protons, neutrons, and electrons of the atom. This mass is typically associated with the binding energy between nucleons. The missing mass is the energy released by the formation of the atomic nucleus. Einsteins formula, E mc2, may be applied to calculate the binding energy of a nucleus. According to the formula, when energy increases, mass and inertia increase. Removing energy reduces mass. Key Takeaways: Mass Defect Definition A mass defect is the difference between an atoms mass and the sum of the masses of its protons, neutrons, and electrons. The reason the actual mass is different from the masses of the components is because some of the mass is released as energy when protons and neutrons bind in the atomic nucleus. Thus, the mass defect results in a lower-than-expected mass. The mass defect follows the conservation laws, where the sum of mass and energy of a system is constant, but matter can be converted into energy. Mass Defect Example For example, a helium atom containing two protons and two neutrons (four nucleons) has a mass about 0.8 percent lower than the total mass of four hydrogen nuclei, which each contain one nucleon.
